QuestionHi, I am 10 weeks post partum after a c section, with about 2 finger hole like feeling vertically, around my belly button and another 3-4 finger hole like feeling horizontally. I was nearly 25 pounds overweight weighing 72kgs before my pregnancy and now although I have shed most of my pregnancy weight, I still weigh 76kgs. Also I have the dreaded c section shelf above the incision scar and I look about 4 months pregnant still. Can you help me get back my earlier shape and not look pregnant still?
AnswerFor diastasis, you need to first build a foundation of strength back into your Transverse Abdominis, the most internal abdominal muscle, our internal "girdle" and then train the muscle how to function properly as a stabilizer. This will close your mid line and re-flatten your belly. I have a DVD that will take you through these rehab steps.
For the shelf, start doing scar mobilization massage. Right now your scar is tight and probably adhered to underlying tissues.
