QuestionHello,
I am interested in using the Rhythm method, inconjunction with the mucus method or even if necessary the Basal Body Temperature method as an alternative contraception to the pill. I understand these natural methods are risky but am willing to follow them diligently to minimise the risks (also STI's aren't a problem as I have a partner)
I would like to know if practiced correctly is it assumed these methods are still used in conjuction with withdrawal? Or are you able to have sex "normally" when you are sure you are not fertile?
I would also appreciate any other advice that may be helpful if i choose to change over to these timing based methods.
Thanks.
AnswerHello Hattie from Australia,
These methods are very unreliable as there is no way to know exactly when ovulation occurs. If you are going to change to these methods, then I would recommend that you add withdrawal and condoms to your ovulation timing. That will make the chances a little more in your favor.
