As a skincare fanatic, I can safely say that serums are the unsung heroes of any skincare routine. They go on as the last step before your moisturizer and lock hydration into your skin for that dewy look that lasts all day long.
I’ve tried my fair share of hydrating serums, so when I heard Cocokind was releasing its Hydrating Electrolyte Rescue Serum, a follow-up to the brand’s TikTok-viral Electrolyte Water Cream, I knew I had to get my hands on it to see how it would compare to its predecessor. (Spoiler alert: It may be even better than the cream.)

The serum’s key ingredient is electrolytes (consisting of zinc, magnesium, and sodium PCAs) that work in tandem with other skin-quenching ingredients like hyaluronic acid, snow mushroom, glycerin, and beta-glucan to calm and plump the skin, while reducing redness and supporting moisture levels over time.

But does it actually work? Well, after using it, I can confidently say that the product has made it onto my holy grail of hydrating serums. Not only is it an affordable $18, but I found that the milky, non-sticky consistency instantly sunk into my skin for that quenched inside-and-out feeling. The consistency is also non-greasy, meaning I can layer it during sweaty summer months without fear of looking shiny instead of glowy.
Most reviewers have praised the product’s hydrating capabilities, including one user who credited it for quenching her skin during an eight-hour flight. “This was a life saver after an 8 hour flight and the change in climate,” one reviewer wrote. “My skin is glowing and feels so hydrated but it’s not heavy or greasy at all. even though it’s been hot i haven’t noticed sweating it off like a lot of heavier serums and moisturizers do.”
Others also commended the product’s lightweight consistency, especially under makeup. “It feels lightweight and absorbs quickly, but still gives my skin a nice hydrated, fresh look without feeling greasy or sticky,” another reviewer commented. “I’ve noticed my skin looks a little calmer and smoother when i use it consistently, and it layers well under makeup too. definitely a good option if you like hydration that doesn’t feel heavy.”
Another commented that the serum’s milky texture led her to use it to replace her milky toners. “Serum feels so good going on that i had to stop myself from using half the bottle the first time i tried it!” the reviewer wrote. “The texture appears slightly thicker at first, but melts very quickly and smoothly into the skin and isn’t heavy at all. i tried using it the first few times after my milky toner, but in later uses realized it basically replaces that step and does double duty!”
All in all, if you’re a fan of Cocokind’s OG Electrolyte Water Cream, you’ll be a fan of its brand-new Hydrating Electrolyte Serum. For more inspo, our team picked other May 2026 beauty launches worth buying.
