Effective Home Remedies for Sunburn Relief

View Photos I still remember my school days and the trauma of summers. Our games classes were always held after the lunch time, which was at 1 O' clock in the afternoon, when the sun would shine it's best. Tanning was unavoidable but sunburns were something which I suffered terribly during this time. Often sunburns are misinterpreted as tanning but both are very different. The former is just the drying up of the upper layer of the skin, while the later is the literal burning of the skin due to over exposure to harsh sun rays.

The common symptoms are inflammation and blisters. Burning rashes are also one of the features. It is often accompanied with nausea, headache and dehydration. My grandmother would never allow us to take medicines and I have to acknowledge that her sunburn home remedies were better than medicines.

Here are some of my grandmothers home remedies for sunburns -

1.Mustard oil massage is one of the most effective home remedies for sunburns. Applying mustard oil cures the inflammation as well as removes the tan.

2.Make a face pack of yogurt, turmeric and barley. Apply it on the affected area and let it dry. Wash it with cold water after 20 minutes.

3.Potatoes are a great agent to cure burns. Grate some potatoes and squeeze the pulp to extract some juice. Apply it on the affected area to reduce the symptoms.
