The end of the day, especially after a hard day’s work feels so good, to just plop yourself into your couch and breathe a huge sigh of relief. Just like you, your skin is tired too, it can’t breathe yet because all the day’s grime, makeup and pollution are suffocating it. So, even though all you want to do is hit the sack, just follow a few small steps to make sure your skin feels as relaxed as you do at the end of the day.
Here are a few things you can do for skin care before bed to ensure that your skin looks young and healthy for longer.
First thing we have to do is get all the day’s muck off your face. So use a makeup remover and take all of your makeup off. Next, splash some water on your face, rub your favorite face-wash in between your palms till it foams and massage your face and neck in circular motions. Wash off and pat dry.
This step is especially important if you have oily skin or big pores. Use rose water or any toner on the market meant for your skin, make sure to follow instructions and never buy one with alcohol, alcohol is very drying and should never be used on the skin unless absolutely necessary.
Especially important for drier skin, oily skinned or problem skinned girls can use moisturizers with special formulas for their skin type. If you’re too much prone to acne, opt for a water-based moisturizer. Do remember to also use the lotion on your neck. Don’t use body lotion on the face; the skin on the face is more prone to reactions, better safe than sorry.
We can’t forget our body’s heroes, they help us work the entire day so let’s treat them well before bed. Use a good hand and cuticle cream on your hands before bed, if you live in a cooler climate, even consider using cotton gloves for the night, you’ll wake up to soft hands in the morning. Same goes for feet, use a good foot cream, if you have cracked heels, a medicated or specialty cream can do wonders! Similar to hands, you can put your feet in socks for the night. Clean and healthy hands and feet are something that really shows the world how much you care about yourself!
Now that you’re done, put your hair up, loosely and go off to dreamland, try your best not to sleep on your stomach, the bacteria on your pillow case can make you break out. I have personal experience of this, when I sleep on one side of my face, I tend to get acne on that side, so be careful! And also try using a softer cloth material for your pillow case to reduce skin damage caused by friction!
Have a good night and don’t forget these beauty tips before going to bed! They’ll make sure that even your skin is smiling when you wake up!
