15 Common Beauty Habits Ruining Your Skin – Stop Now!

Tried everything out there, all the lotions and potions, but still can’t get that brilliant beauty secret to work for you? Well, chances are, you may actually have a few habits you need to break, instead of looking for ones that work! You can be trying a host of things, but unless you get rid of the wrong habits, most of the good ones you may be following will end up as a complete waste. Today, we’re going to have a look at the absolute 15 bad beauty habits that you definitely need to break out of.

Bad beauty Habits To Break

1. Stop licking:

Stop it right away! This is the top bad beauty habit to break! You may not know it, but unconsciously, you may be doing this a million times in a day, maybe even while you’re reading this! You may have perfect lips as of now, but the drying tendency of the saliva will ultimately cause chapped lips, leading to dryness and pain.

2. Leave the pimple alone:

Pimples are nothing but clogged pores on the skin filled with bacteria. So the more you touch them or try to burst them, the more irritation and infection it will cause, leading to skin spots, marks making it worse.

3. Do not touch your hair:

Most of us do this all the time, and we absolutely love it! Playing with hair, whether consciously or unconsciously, is difficult to resist when you have healthy hair, but then, touching hair constantly will again result in damaged hair, especially split hair and knots.

4. Never sleep with makeup on:

This is one of the biggest beauty crimes we commit! Sleeping with your makeup on, that is without removing what’s left of it by the end of the night, is something we do many times. You may be sleepy or extremely tired and the only thing on your mind is probably crashing! But taking out only 2 minutes to remove all the makeup and sleep with a clean face, allows your skin breathe through the night, without clogging the pores. Not doing this will cause premature wrinkles, dry and damaged skin and other infections.

5. Remove the stress:

Stress is the silent enemy, the one that will destroy most of your inner strength and reserve, and leave a mark on your face as well as your overall health. Constant stress can lead to premature greying, wrinkles, dry skin, skin darkening and pigmentation, poor digestion, lack of sleep and puffy eyes and dark circles.

6. Skipping the sunscreen:

The sun is always out there, whether you get to see it or not, so using sunscreen only when the sun is shining is not really a good idea. The harmful rays of the sun are ever present wrecking havoc on your skin. So make it a habit to use sunscreen every day, before you leave the house and even if you are indoors.

7. Clean brushes and sponge:

Your makeup brushes and sponges are one of the most common grounds of breeding germs and bacteria. It’s also the perfect place for mold to start building up. This can cause severe skin damage, allergies and infections. Make sure you clean your makeup brushes and sponges regularly, rinse them properly with lukewarm water at least once a month and make sure they dry up properly.

8. Plucking out grey hair:

You’ll be plucking out grey hair so that it isn’t visible, but sadly, doing this is the exact way to ensure that more grey hairs come up where you plucked them. The grey hair that will come up next will be more difficult to hide because it will be shorter and stubbier.

9. Over-exfoliating is bad:

Exfoliation is good, but over-exfoliation is bad. Too much of exfoliation can rob your skin of essential natural oils and leave your skin red and cause skin irritations.

10. Drink water:

You can never drink enough water. Water is essential for your skin, health, hair and overall body. So make sure you have enough number of glasses of water every day.

11. Cleaning the neck:

Your neck is the most neglected part of the body but leaving it neglected over a long period of time will make it dry, lead to premature ageing and wrinkles and create skin infections. Make sure you remember to properly clean and moisturise the area on a regular basis.

12. Using expired products:

You may have spent a lot on a particular piece of makeup and definitely don’t want to let it go to waste, but holding on to makeup, or for that matter, any product that is past its expiry will do more damage than good. Go through your stash and throw out anything that’s past it’s life.

13. Tweezing ingrown hair:

Trying to tweeze out hair that’s stubborn and in-grown is not a good idea. Not only is it difficult to grab it and take out completely, it can also lead to scarring and infections.

14. Chewing Nails:

It’s a bad, and disgusting habit. Chewing your nails will damage the nail plate and the nail underneath the nail, not to forget the germs that get transferred to your mouth, torn cuticles resulting infection. It can also cause bleeding due to nail rips and skin tears.

15. Wrapping wet hair in towel:

The hair shafts on wet hair stretch and break more easily. Wrapping your wet hair in a towel will minimize the effects of your conditioner and also lead to damaged, frizzy strands.

So here we list beauty bad habits  that we are prone too. Now you know. So its time to make sure we avoid them.
