Before You Start:
* Gather your supplies: Nail polish remover, cotton balls, base coat, nail polish in your chosen color(s), top coat, cuticle pusher, cuticle oil, nail file, and a lint-free wipe.
* Prepare your nails: Clean your nails with nail polish remover to remove any residue. Shape them with a nail file (square, oval, almond, etc.).
* Push back cuticles: Using a cuticle pusher, gently push back your cuticles to prevent polish from getting on the skin.
* Apply a base coat: This helps protect your nails from staining and creates a smooth surface for the polish to adhere to. Let it dry completely before applying color.
Applying the Polish:
1. Roll the bottle: Roll the polish bottle between your palms to evenly distribute the color and ensure smooth application.
2. Start with a thin coat: Dip the brush in the polish, wipe excess polish off the sides, and start by painting a thin line down the center of your nail. Then, paint two more strokes, one on each side of the center line.
3. Don't rush: Allow each coat to dry completely before applying the next.
4. Clean up any mistakes: If you get polish on your skin, use a cotton swab dipped in nail polish remover to clean it up.
5. Apply a second coat: Apply a second coat of color if needed.
6. Finish with a top coat: A top coat seals in the color, adds shine, and helps prevent chipping.
Additional Tips:
* Choose a color that complements your skin tone.
* Don't shake the bottle. Shaking creates air bubbles, which can lead to uneven application.
* Use a thin layer of polish. Too much polish will take longer to dry and may lead to smudging.
* Don't press the brush down too hard. This can cause the polish to spread unevenly.
* Avoid getting polish on the cuticles. It can make your nails look messy.
* Let your nails dry completely before doing anything that might smudge them.
* Moisturize your cuticles with cuticle oil after your nails are dry.
Enjoy your beautiful nails!
