10 great eyeliner tips every girl should know
Even on a day that they’re dressing down a little, most girls rely on a touch of eyeliner to bring out the definition to their eyes. Your eyes are beautiful, and emphasizing that beauty to bring some attention to them can’t hurt. So keep these top ten tips in mind the next time you apply your eyeliner:
1. Use gel
A liquid eyeliner can give you the dark and flawless look, but it takes a really steady hand to apply it. So try a gel alternative instead; apply it with an angled brush for easy and smooth application.
2. How to choose eyeliner color to enhance your eye color?
Try some shades that accentuate your eye color. For example, a purple, mauve, gray or violet shades will highlight blue eyes beautifully. If you have brown eyes try using khaki-green, bronze or copper eyeliner colors. For ladies with green and hazel eyes I’d recommend trying different shades of purple, green and brown, as well as bronze and gold eyeliners…but our old, tried and tested black will suit everyone!
3. Take your time
It takes some effort to get that flawless eyeliner line, take your time and apply your eyeliner with gentle small strokes or dabs. Trying one grand swoop will only lead to you having to start over.
4. Don’t get irritated
If you find that your eyes are constantly itching, then apply your eyeliner with a disposable, new applicator to avoid spreading the germs and remember: never share your eyeliner with friends!
5. Don’t miss the inner rims
Line the inner rims of your eyes to create that beautiful, night time look, but don’t forget that dark colored eyeliner can make your eyes look smaller.
6. Avoid smudging
To avoid those unflattering smudges beneath your lashes, try using waterproof eyeliner on the lower lash line.
7. Don’t forget to remove it at night
It may have been a long night, but don’t forget to remove your eyeliner before you go to bed, as it can cause irritation.
8. Mechanical pencils
Using a mechanical pencil for daytime use is better than a normal pencil, because they are drier and so will fade less.
9. Be bold
For a bright, party look don’t be afraid to use vibrant colors, or try lining the upper and lower lash lines with two different but complimentary colors. It can be so much fun to experiment and play with different eyeliner shades!
10. Put it in the freezer
If the tip of your eyeliner pencil is crumbling and smearing when you apply it, try putting it in the freezer for ten minutes to firm at the top and keep things smooth.
