Mineral makeup is somewhat of a beauty revolution, and if you want in on it then you'll need to know the best mineral makeup brands that are around. In selecting these I have chosen a range of different products with varying pricetags so don't think that mineral makeup is a club that only those with cash to splash can join.
bareMinerals is probably the biggest brand name in the world of mineral makeup and with good reason. This isn't a product you are likely to find in a local drugstore, but it is well worth the investment if you are serious about your makeup; by this I obviously mean, get ready because it's not cheap! The good news though is that because it's such a quality product you don't actually need to use that much of it, so it will last you for quite a while.
The beauty of mineral makeup is that it shouldn't cake or clog the skin; it should let your skin breathe while still giving you good coverage and a natural looking glow. In this respect bareMinerals products give you this in spades. It's quick to apply too; which can be an issue with some mineral-based makeup and is quick and easy to remove.
I'd also highly recommend it if you have sensitive or oily skin; it shouldn't present you with further breakouts or clog your pores.
What you get with bareMinerals too is a great range of products - it's not just mineral powder. There are even some great sets you can buy which I'd recommend for the beginner
The True Match Mineral range gives good coverage and leaves you with a really healthy glow; what's more the makeup doesn't feel caked on. This is also a great product for controlling shine.
This is a favorite product with many users due to both the pricetag and the quality of the product; many say it outperforms even the more expensive brands so it's definitely one to try.
Clinique have a number of products that can be classed as mineral makeup, although they do come with a larger pricetag than the other brands we've looked at in our reviews so far. When I can afford it, Clinique is the brand I go for and adore, but I should point out that whatever your budget is there are others options available and ways of purchasing makeup more cheaply.
The latest Clinique product (just in time for summer) is the Redness Solutions mineral powder; it treats redness (from sunburn or just generally) as well as offering relief for your skin. It not only combats redness but gives a nice sheen and can be worn under or over makeup.
For more regular mineral makeup in the Clinique range I'd go for something like the Superbalanced powder makeup; this is mineral enriched but not entirely a mineral makeup which makes it a good choice for those with oily or combination skin - I love this one.
The pressed powder I particularly like as it blends really well and goes on easily.
It's a mid priced option, but I think it's no less a performer than some of the expensive ones; the finish really is that good. If you were worried about the price then I can assure you that you don't need much product to get good results, so what you are buying really does last a long time.
The packaging is really neat, although it can take a bit of practice in order to apply the makeup just right; your first few attempts might be a little messy.
The finish it leaves on your skin is really beautiful, and with such a great range you are bound to find something that suits you.
I particularly recommend the finishing powder for giving such a great finish and controlling shine too; it's well worth the minimal pricetag.
So that concludes our list of the best mineral makeup brands; I hope you found the reviews useful. Please do drop me a line if there's a mineral product you love that I haven't included as it will be useful to us all. Now go and be beautiful!
