Lip Gloss and Cuts: Risks & Safe Wound Care

You should never put lip gloss on a cut. Here's why:

* Infection risk: Lip gloss is not sterile and can introduce bacteria into the cut, increasing the risk of infection.

* Irritation: Many lip glosses contain ingredients that can irritate an open wound, causing pain and inflammation.

* Slowed healing: The ingredients in lip gloss can prevent the cut from properly closing and healing.

Instead of using lip gloss, here's what you should do for a cut:

1. Clean it: Gently wash the cut with soap and water.

2. Apply antiseptic: Use an antibiotic ointment or cream to prevent infection.

3. Cover it: Apply a clean bandage to protect the cut and keep it moist.

If the cut is deep, bleeding heavily, or showing signs of infection (redness, swelling, pus), seek medical attention immediately.
