Option 1: Simple & Natural
* Ingredients:
* 1 tsp beeswax pellets
* 1 tsp coconut oil
* 1 tsp jojoba oil (or another carrier oil)
* A few drops of food coloring (optional)
* A few drops of essential oil (optional - peppermint, vanilla, or citrus are popular choices)
* Instructions:
1. Combine the beeswax, coconut oil, and jojoba oil in a small saucepan.
2. Heat over low heat, stirring occasionally, until the wax is melted and the mixture is smooth.
3. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
4. If desired, add food coloring and/or essential oil, stirring until combined.
5. Pour into small containers (lip balm tubes or small jars work well).
6. Allow to cool and solidify completely.
Option 2: Shiny & Shimmery
* Ingredients:
* 1 tsp petroleum jelly
* 1 tsp clear lip balm
* 1/2 tsp finely ground mica powder (for shimmer)
* A few drops of food coloring (optional)
* A few drops of essential oil (optional)
* Instructions:
1. Combine the petroleum jelly and lip balm in a small bowl.
2. Microwave for a few seconds, or heat gently over a double boiler, until the lip balm is melted.
3. Stir in the mica powder until evenly distributed.
4. If desired, add food coloring and/or essential oil.
5. Pour into containers and allow to cool and solidify.
Tips:
* Experiment with colors: Add a bit of cocoa powder for a subtle brown, beetroot powder for a natural pink, or use natural food coloring for a vibrant hue.
* Adjust the consistency: Add more beeswax for a thicker gloss, or more oil for a thinner gloss.
* Storage: Store your homemade lip gloss in a cool, dry place. It should last for several weeks.
Remember, always do a small patch test on your skin before applying lip gloss all over your lips.
