Mascara on False Lashes: Will It Ruin Them?

Applying mascara to your fake eyelashes isn't generally recommended, especially if you want them to last a week. Here's why:

* Reduced lifespan: Mascara can cause buildup on the lashes, making them stiff, clumpy, and harder to clean. This can shorten their lifespan and make them look less natural over time.

* Damage to fibers: Many mascaras contain oils or waxes that can break down the adhesive holding the lashes together or damage the delicate fibers.

* Difficult cleaning: It's much harder to thoroughly clean mascara off fake lashes than natural lashes. Leftover mascara can attract bacteria and cause eye irritation.

Here are some tips to help keep your lashes looking good for longer:

* Choose the right lashes: Select high-quality lashes made from durable materials like mink or synthetic fibers. These are more likely to withstand regular wear.

* Clean them regularly: After each use (or every couple of days), gently clean your lashes with a mild cleanser and a cotton swab. Avoid harsh chemicals or oil-based products.

* Store them properly: When you're not wearing your lashes, store them in their original case or a lash container to protect them from dust and damage.

* Apply a fresh coat of mascara to your natural lashes before applying the fake lashes. This way, the mascara doesn't directly come into contact with the fake lashes.

* Consider a lash sealant: A lash sealant can help protect your lashes from moisture and debris, extending their lifespan.

If you feel like your fake lashes need a little extra oomph, you could try applying a very light coat of mascara to your natural lashes before applying the fake ones. Just be sure to clean your fake lashes thoroughly afterward to remove any residue.
